Tulingan Bistek

Traditional Filipino tulingan bistek recipe

Ingredients

  • 1000 g Bullet Tuna
  • 0.5 cup Soy Sauce
  • 4 pieces Onions
  • 8 cloves Garlic
  • 8 pieces Calamansi
  • 2 tsp Sugar
  • 4 tbsp Cooking Oil

Instructions

  1. Cut the bullet tuna into serving-sized chunks. In a bowl, marinate with soy sauce, calamansi juice, minced garlic, and sugar for 15 minutes.

  2. Heat cooking oil in a wok or pan over medium-high heat.

  3. Sear the tuna chunks for 2 minutes per side until the outside is golden but the inside is still slightly moist.

  4. Add the sliced onions and stir-fry for 2 minutes until softened but still crisp.

  5. Pour in any remaining marinade and cook for 1 more minute until the sauce thickens slightly.

  6. Adjust seasoning with more soy sauce or calamansi if needed. Serve hot with steamed rice.
