Kusido

Traditional Filipino kusido recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Milk
  • 0.25 cup Sugar
  • 1 pieces Eggs
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 0.5 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 0.12 tsp Salt

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, whisk together the milk, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Heat over medium until it begins to steam.

  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs with the cornstarch until the mixture is smooth and there are no lumps.

  3. Slowly pour a cup of the warm milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly to temper the eggs and prevent curdling.

  4. Pour the tempered egg mixture back into the saucepan with the remaining milk, stirring constantly.

  5. Continue to cook over medium-low heat, stirring continuously with a wooden spoon. The mixture will gradually thicken to a pudding-like consistency.

  6. Once thickened, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let cool, then serve warm or chilled in glasses or cups.
