Tuna Pesto Pasta Creamy Version

Basil pesto, tuna, and cream in a pasta dish

Ingredients

  • 16 oz penne pasta
  • 10 oz tuna (canned)
  • 250 ml Nestle All-Purpose Cream
  • 0.5 cup pesto sauce
  • 8 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1 onion (minced)
  • 0.25 cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 0 salt and ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil the penne pasta al dente (see notes below) according to package instructions. Drain the pasta water. Set both aside.

  2. Melt butter in a pan. Add olive oil.

  3. Sauté the onion for 30 seconds.

  4. Add the garlic. Continue sautéing until the onion softens and the garlic starts to brown. Note: Do not brown the garlic completely. (see notes below)

  5. Add the tuna. Sauté for 1 minute.

  6. Add the pesto sauce. Stir and continue cooking for another minute.

  7. Pour Nestle all-purpose cream and 3 tablespoons of pasta water.

  8. Season with salt and ground black pepper. Gently stir the mixture.

  9. Add the cooked penne pasta into the pan. Toss until coated completely.

  10. Add the Parmesan cheese. Toss. (see notes below)

  11. Transfer to a serving plate. Serve and enjoy!
