Tokwat Baka (Fried Tofu and Grilled Beef in Vinegar Sauce)

Tokwat Baka — tender beef prepared in traditional Filipino style with local seasonings. A hearty and satisfying main dish.

Ingredients

  • 453.6 g (16 oz) grilled porterhouse steak (sliced)
  • 4 piece extra firm tofu (fried and cubed)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1.25 cup light soy sauce
  • 1.5 cup rice vinegar
  • 1.5 tsp granulated white sugar
  • 1.25 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1.25 tsp salt
  • 1.5 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 small red onion (minced)
  • 2 tsp roasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Arrange the sliced steak and cubed tofu in a bowl.

  2. On a separate bowl, combine soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, pepper, salt, and onion. Stir. Microwave for 20 to 30 seconds

  3. Add the mixture over the steak and tofu.

  4. Top with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

  5. Serve.
