Sikwate

Rich hot chocolate made from ground cacao and water. A Filipino morning ritual from Batangas.

Ingredients

  • 10.5 tbsp Cacao Powder
  • 7 tbsp Sugar brown
  • 7 cups Water
  • 1.75 tsp Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  1. Mix cacao powder with 2 tbsp water to form a smooth paste.

  2. Heat remaining water in a pot. Whisk in the cacao paste.

  3. Stir in sugar and vanilla. Heat until barely simmering.

  4. Pour into small cups and drink hot.
