Japanese Curry

Battleship curry is a type of Japanese beef curry served b the Japanese Navy during WWII

Ingredients

  • 2 large bs. beef (thinly sliced)
  • 1 Knorr beef cube
  • 2 potatoes (diced)
  • 2 carrots (diced)
  • 4 tbsp curry powder
  • 3 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tsp honey
  • 2 yellow onions (chopped)
  • 3 clove garlic (sliced)
  • 3 cup water
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 0.5 cup coffee
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 0.25 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 0 Salt and ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Season beef with salt and pepper. Set aside.

  2. Heat oil in a cooking pot. Add the butter and let it melt.

  3. Put the beef slices and stir-fry until it turns light brown in color.

  4. Add onion and garlic. Sauté for 1 minute.

  5. Add the carrot and cook it for 2 minutes while stirring occasionally.

  6. Pour the water into the cooking pot. Let it boil.

  7. Add the Knorr Beef Cube, Curry Powder, Ketchup. Worcestershire sauce, and honey. Cover and Simmer for 15 minutes.

  8. Add the potato and continue to simmer for 12 minutes.

  9. Combine cornstarch with 3 tablespoons of water. Stir and pour into the pot. Stir.

  10. Add cheese and coffee.

  11. Season with salt and ground black pepper as needed.
