Miswa at Patola Soup

Miswa at Patola Soup is a delicious Filipino dish made of sponge gourd, ground pork, and Chinese vermicelli. It's hearty and tasty on its own or as a side dish.

Ingredients

  • 3 medium patola
  • 1 tbsp canola oil
  • 1 onion
  • 2 clove garlic
  • 0.5 lb ground pork
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 2 cup water
  • 2 oz miswa noodles
  • 0 salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cut off both ends of the patola and discard. Using a vegetable peeler, peel the skin. Slice the peeled gourd crosswise into ¼-inch thick.

  2. Put large pan - medium heat and warm up some oil. Add onions and garlic and Cook it until softened.

  3. Add pork and cook, breaking apart with the back of a spoon, until nice and browned.

  4. Add fish sauce and Keep cooking, stirring occasionally, for about 1 to 2 minutes.

  5. Drop in water and Bring it to a boil. skimming any scum that may float on top.

  6. Lower heat and cook for about 10 minutes or until pork is tender.

  7. Add patola and cook for about 3 to 5 minutes or until tender yet crisp.

  8. Add miswa noodles and cook for 1 to 2 minutes or until softened.

  9. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve while hot.
