Rice
How to cook rice comes down to the right water ratio for your rice type, a good rinse, and a 10 minute rest. This recipe uses long grain white rice such as jasmine, Sinandomeng, or Dinorado. Other rice types use different ratios and cook times. See the notes for the full table.
Instructions
Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch.
Combine rice and water in a pot using a 1:1.5 ratio (1 cup rice to 1.5 cups water). Add a pinch of salt.
Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to low heat, cover, and simmer for 15-18 minutes.
Remove from heat and let stand covered for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.
