Chicken Bistek

Chicken Bistek is just as tasty as the beef version but quicker to make and more budget-friendly. Moist, flavorful, and smothered in a tangy and savory sauce, it's delicious with steamed rice.

Ingredients

  • 3 lb chicken, legs, thighs or whole cut up into serving parts
  • 1 onion, peeled and sliced
  • 4 clove garlic, peeled and minced
  • 0.5 tsp peppercorns, cracked
  • 0.25 cup lemon or calamansi juice
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp canola oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp liver spread
  • 0 salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Warm up some oil in a pan or pot on medium heat.

  2. Pan-fry chicken until it develops a nice crust. Set aside. in the pan.

  3. Add the aromatics — garlic, onion, ginger — and Cook it until fragrant.

  4. Add the onion, garlic, pepper. Season it to taste.

  5. Cook it until everything gets tender and the flavors have melded together.

  6. Serve it while it's hot with steamed rice.
