Pata Hamonado

Pata Hamonado with fork-tender pork leg and a sweet and savory pineapple sauce is sure to be a family favorite. Serve with steamed rice for the ultimate comfort food!

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp canola oil
  • 1 (about 3 pounds) whole pork leg, cut into 2-inch thick pieces
  • 1 onion, peeled and sliced thinly
  • 4 clove garlic, peeled and minced
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 0.25 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cup water
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tsp peppercorns
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 0 salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup Pineapple chunks

Instructions

  1. Get meat nicely browned in the pan, then set it aside.

  2. In the same pot, pour in the vinegar and let it boil uncovered for 2 to 3 minutes.

  3. Return the meat to the pot, add soy sauce, garlic, bay leaves, and peppercorns.

  4. Cover and simmer on low heat until the meat is tender, about 30 to 45 minutes.

  5. Uncover and Cook it until the sauce reduces to your preferred thickness. Serve it while it's hot.
