Humba (Pork)

Cantonese-style pork belly braised in soy and sugar sauce.

Ingredients

  • 0.67 kg Pork belly
  • 0.33 cup Soy sauce
  • 1.33 tbsp Dark soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 4 pcs Garlic, smashed
  • 0.67 pcs Onion, halved
  • 1.33 pcs Star anise
  • 0.67 inch Ginger, sliced
  • 1.33 tbsp Cooking wine
  • 1.33 cup Water

Instructions

  1. Blanch pork belly in boiling water for 5 minutes. Drain.

  2. In a pot, combine soy sauce, dark soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, onion, star anise, ginger, and wine.

  3. Add pork and water. Bring to boil, then simmer covered for 1.5 hours.

  4. Uncover and reduce sauce. Slice and serve.
